AFGHANISTAN EMERGENCY EARTHQUAKE APPEAL

A powerful earthquake has killed more than 1400 people and injured over 3200, destroying more than 8000 thousand houses, leaving thousands of people homeless and many people are still buried under the rubble in Kunar, Afghanistan.

The death toll is likely to rise.

The 6.0-magnitude quake struck Afghanistan’s mountainous eastern region at 20:17 local time on Sun 31st Aug, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

The epicentre was about 17 miles away from Jalalabad.

It was followed by many strong aftershocks.

The World Aid Convoy Team has launched an Emergency Appeal to help the injured and affected people.

Abu Hurairah R.D. narrates Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. said “Whosoever removes a worldly grief from a believer, Allah S.W.T will remove from him one of the grievances of the Day of Judgement. Whosoever alleviates the needs of a needy person, Allah S.W.T will alleviate his needs in this world and the next. Whosoever conceals the faults of a Muslim, Allah S.W.T will conceal his faults in this world and the next. Allah S.W.T will aid a servant (of His) so long as the servant aids his brother.” (Sahih Muslim)
