UDHIYYAH / QURBANI APPEAL – 1441H / 2020 – SYRIA, YEMEN, DJIBOUTI, AFGHANISTAN & PAKISTAN
The Hilal crescent moon for Dhul Hijjah 1441 was sighted tonight Tues 21st July 2020.
Therefore;
1st of Dhul Hijjah – Wednesday 22nd July 2020.
9th of Dhul Hijjah – Thursday 30th July 2020
10th of Dhul Hijjah – EID UL ADHA – Friday 31st July 2020
Talhah bin Ubaidullah R.D reported: at the sight of the new moon, Prophet(ﷺ) used to supplicate:
اللهم أهله علينا بالأمن والإيمان والسلامة والإسلام، ربي وربك الله، هلال رشد وخير
“O Allah, let this moon appear on us with security and Iman; with safety and Islam. Your Lord and mine is Allah. May this moon be bringing guidance and good).”
So blessed are the first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah that Allah S.W.T swears an oath by them in the Quran when He says in Surah al Fajr
- By the dawn;
- By the ten nights (i.e. the first ten days of the month of Dhul-Hijjah)

If you are an adult and in the days of Eid ul Adha – 10th, 11th, 12th Dhul Hijjah (31st July, 1st & 2nd Aug 2020) you have the Nisab of Zakat = £329.45 (calculated on 21/07/2020 – this can vary according to the price of silver), Udhiyah/ Qurbani is Wajib on you.
(Adult in Islam is anyone who is Mature (Baligh) or 15 years old according to Islamic Hijri Calendar!)
(So if you have children who are Baligh or 15 years of age according to the Islamic Hijri Calendar and they have the amount of Nisab saved up on the days of Eid, then it is Wajib on them to do Qurbani)
In’sha’Allah this year World Aid Convoy will be doing Qurbanis in Syria, Yemen, Djibouti, Afghanistan & Pakistan.
Please help feed the most needy in Bilad Al Sham (Syria), Yemen, Djibouti, Afghanistan & Pakistan this EID by offering your Qurbani there.
Allah S.W.T says in the Quran, Surah 22, Verse 37:
It is neither their meat nor their blood that reaches Allah, but it is piety from you that reaches him. Thus have we made them subject to you that you may magnify Allah for His Guidance to you. And give glad tidings (Oh Muhammad S.A.W) to the Muhsinun (doers of good) .
When the Prophet S.A.W was asked “what is Qurbani? “He answered, “it is the sunnah of your father Ibrahim A.S. for every hair of the Qurbani you will receive a reward from Allah, and for every hair in the wool you will receive a reward,” (ibn Majah & Tirmidhi)
The Messenger of Allah S.A.W said:
‘When the new moon of Dhul-Hijjah appears and one of you wants to do the sacrifice, then he should abstain from (cutting) his hair and his nails.’
And in a narration:
‘Then he should not take anything from his hair or from his nails until he sacrifices.’
(Saheeh Muslim)
Zayd ibn Arqam R.D relates that the Companions asked “O Messanger of Allah S.A.W! What is Udhiyyah?” He replied, “It is the sunnah of your father Ibrahim A.S.” They asked again, What benefit do we get from it?” He answered, “A reward for every hair (of the sacrificed animal).’ And (what reward is there for animals with) wool, O Messenger of Allah?’ they asked, A reward, he said, “for every fibre of the wool.” (Sunan ibn Majah)
